David began playing the piano at the age of 7. By the age of 8, David was performing at the Kinsmen Music Festival where he received high marks for his performance work. This was to be the beginning of many appearances at music festivals where he excelled at performance and surpassed his peers in his ability to sight-read music His repertoire included composers such as Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Liszt, Chopin and Prokofiev. He developed an interest at an early age with 20th century composers and avant-garde music studying composers such as Edgar Varese and Elliot Carter.

First class honours were commonplace for David as he completed Royal Conservatory piano and theory examinations through his years of study.

While studying performance piano with Douglas Voice at the University Of Ottawa, David developed an interest in accompanying vocalists. He worked at a variety of restaurants in the Ottawa area performing Jazz favourites and arranging music for soloists. His influences are as broad as his repertoire, from Vladmir Horowitz, to Keith Emerson, from Barry Manilow to Glenn Gould to Chick Corea. On any given night you might hear music from Barbra Stresiand, Stevie Wonder, or countless other artists. David continued his studies with Jazz training from the University of Ottawa and also spent one year studying pipe organ.

David’s interest in arranging continues to this day. He continues to work with a number of vocalists and string musicians arranging material from sacred to secular.
